Download Senior Fraud Alert
When the App Store launch goes live, search "Senior Fraud Alert" and install it. Email the address below to be notified the moment it’s available.
Turn on SMS filtering
Go to Settings, then Messages, then Unknown & Spam, and enable Senior Fraud Alert under Message Filtering. This lets the app silently review incoming texts, it never sees your contacts or content from known senders.
Turn on call blocking
Go to Settings, then Phone, then Call Blocking & Identification, and enable Senior Fraud Alert. Suspected scam callers will be silenced automatically.
Add a trusted contact (optional)
Open the app and tap "Add Trusted Contact." Enter a family member's email. They'll get a link to review anything suspicious before you respond.
Use the Share Sheet scanner
Got a suspicious text or email? Long-press the message, tap Share, then choose "Check with Senior Fraud Alert." You'll get a verdict in seconds.
Their texts don’t leave their phone.
If my server got hit by a meteor tomorrow, the texts and calls would still get blocked. The whole check happens on the phone. There’s a spot Apple set aside in iOS for exactly this and that’s where it runs.
Texts
Only texts from people not already in their contacts ever hit the app. The sender and body sit in a sandbox Apple controls. The app looks at them, decides, and moves on. Nothing gets uploaded anywhere.
Calls
A list of known fraud numbers gets loaded into iOS itself. iOS does the blocking. I never see who called.
Pattern matching
About a thousand rules live on the phone. They run in a few milliseconds. No internet needed. Works the same on an airplane as it does at home.
The cloud parts (opt-in)
Two things touch a server, and only if the senior taps to use them: the Share Sheet check (sending one specific text or link for a second opinion) and family alerts. Nothing else.
Don’t take my word for it. After a week of use, go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → App Privacy Report. You’ll see exactly what the app does (and doesn’t) talk to over the network.
